FG - FGX Intercooler testing

we used an employee’s FGX to test intercoolers for real world information for us and customers.

Testing parameters

  • car cooled down and left idling before every test for 15 minutes

  • we had pre cooler temp sensor, dyno sensors and ecu logging

  • same tune for every cooler

  • 3 back to back runs

  • factory GT3576

  • static idle iat 32C - 34C

RESULTS

Conclusion

The factory F6 cooler is a waste of time 4 degrees separates the factory unit and the F6 unit but on the third run the factory cooler and the only drop the air charge by 10 degree’s you get what you pay for.

Extra info…….

Iat’s (inlet air temps) are critical in warding off detonation and maximising power. you almost can never over intercool a car .

“but my friends car makes 350kw with a F6 cooler “

possibly yes on a cool day on a cool run for one gear on the dyno but when we drive our cars its 2-3 gears and she’ s cooking and pulling power to protect the engine but with a bigger cooler you have full power for longer.
